“Wicked: For Good” is the second and final movie of the Broadway Musical “Wicked.” It features Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, where they battle a challenging journey.
The first “Wicked” presents Elphaba and Glinda as roommates at Shiz University. As Elphaba became close-knit with Professor Dillamond, a talking goat, Elphaba realized the Wizard’s bad intentions of taking away speech from animals. After her realization, she steals the Grimmerie and becomes known as the Wicked Witch of the West. Glinda, struggling between choosing friendship or popularity, she decides to protect her position with the Land of Oz.
“Wicked: For Good” focuses on the conflict between Elphaba and Glinda. As events continued negatively, the Land of Oz blamed it on Elphaba. The need to kill Elphaba grew amongst the people.
Glinda, feeling hurt hearing things they say, she went along with it to stay cordial with the people.
“Wicked,” is inspired by, “The Wizard of Oz,” including places like the Yellow Brick Road, which is also a metaphor for pursuing your goals. They include stories of each original character in The Wizard of Oz, including, the Scarecrow, Lion, Tin Man and Dorothy.
If you are not into musicals, I would not recommend going to watch this movie. This movie is filled with songs and hardly any action.
I felt bad when Elphaba tried to warn the people then ended up backfiring on her. Besides that, I no longer took her side.
As she’s being blamed, she attracts Fieryo, Glinda’s soon to be husband. I began to dislike Fieryo and Elphaba after he chose her over Glinda. I don’t understand why Glinda forgave Elphaba and Fieryo.
I did love how Elphaba and Glinda had such a strong relationship even after fighting each other and taking the other person’s partner. Their strength of friendship is how they got the end results they wanted. The results they aimed for and received were letting out all the animals the Wizard kept. Although I do feel like sometimes they push each other’s boundaries too far. For example, it feels like Elphaba picked Fieryo over her friendship with Glinda.
I really enjoyed the ending when they put together the pieces and found out who Elphaba’s father was. It really gave a good plot twist to the story since most of the movie was just musical.
At the end, Glinda starts to not care about her popularity and side with Elphaba. I say it was for the better that Elphaba acted like she died for the sake of Glinda, as she later on went back to her regular life not having the stress of choosing between two passions.
