A couple of years after opening in April 2024, The Griffin Antique Mall has quickly become one of Edmond’s most unique shopping malls.
Unlike a normal, traditional antique store, The Griffin is made up of booths run by many different vendors. Each vendor brings in their own style of collections, meaning you can find everything from antique lamps and vintage glassware to old toys, decorations, furniture and even vinyls. Since vendors refresh their booths every few days, so every visit is something new.
One of the things that makes The Griffin stand out is its creative community events. One popular event featured the mall turning off the overhead lights and switching on only the antique lamps throughout the mall, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere for customers. The mall also hosts seasonal and holiday events. During this past Mother’s Day weekend, customers could enter a giveaway drawing while enjoying free cookies and drinks.
The Griffin has also expanded beyond the mall itself. Recently, the business launched an online magazine featuring items, vendors, and other things connected to the mall. Another unique feature would be the mall’s “Mail Club,” a subscription program for both kids and adults that sends letters, art, stickers, and surprises to members each month.
Customers may also meet one of the mall’s most popular regulars, Dixie. Dixie is the owner’s dog which employees are accompanied by, she even occasionally greets customers walking through the store.
The store has become really popular with people who enjoy vintage style, collecting antiques, or simply exploring something new. With the booths constantly changing and events happening throughout the year, The Griffin gives an experience that feels more interactive and personal than your usual retail store.
One of the employees at The Griffin actually attends Santa Fe. Junior Syndey Stancil started working there some months ago and often posts on their social media and greets every customer with a smile. The people who come in are one of the things Stancil values most when working there.
“My favorite thing about working at The Griffin is not only seeing the vendors bringing in old antiques, but also seeing what kind of people and meeting those people who buy these antiques,” Stancil said.
Not only does Stancil love seeing what people buy, she often explores the mall for vintage items for herself and friends.
“And my favorite thing I’ve bought is every single lamp, mainly my chicken lamp,” Stancil said.
As The Griffin Antique Mall continues to grow, it has already become more than just a place to shop, it’s a place where history, creativity, and community all come together.
