Since the Oklahoma City Thunder won their first championship on June, 22 2025, after the big win they started their 2026 season starting October 5, 2025. They are now back to play in the playoffs and potentially get another championship. 

After getting a new record of winning 64-18 the Thunder went on to be one of the few teams that swept two teams throughout playoffs. The first playoff game was Sunday April 12, they played The Phoenix Suns. When the first round of the playoffs started Thunder had a 32 point difference between the wins, ending with them losing. The first game set the tone for the rest of the round with the Thunder winning every game after the 12th with at least a 10 point difference. After winning four games back to back they have advanced to the next round.

Next the Thunder played the Los Angeles Lakers in round two. The Thunder has won three games against the Lakers prior to the playoffs with them now gaining four more after the most recent win on May 11th. 

After the OKC Thunder swept the Lakers winning 4-0, they now advance to the third round. It is not yet known who the thunder will play out of the Minnesota Timberwolves or the San Antonio Spurs.

A lot of people on the internet doubted the Thunder saying they couldn’t do it, they were just an AAU team, a team that doesn’t deserve to win. But in the end they closed out last season with a championship under their wing. With an amazing crowd all around, after winning it felt surreal to be in downtown during all the amazing festivities. 

Not only did the crowd show up after the win but as a community Oklahomans from everywhere came to support their team. Hopefully this year the crowd shows up for their team like they did last year. This year we have had a good season and could come out with another championship.
