Over many years, many students have stopped wearing sandals and slides to school. Many people have outfits that pair well with sandals, but don’t wear them because of how others may react to bare toes.
On the other hand, there are people who don’t care and wear their toes without socks or polish. However, there are some who are scared of being judged, but why judge at all when we all have feet.
Here are what some students think about this topic.
“I think nothing’s wrong with it, because toes are normal, you should be proud to show them off,” Junior Thu Nguyen says.
On the other foot, it seems like some students, such as Promise Grizzard, disagree with students having their toes out.
“I feel like there’s a way that should be banned.” Senior Promise Grizzard says.
“It’s not okay if you have big feet, I just think it’s diabolical,” Grizzard ended with.
Like Thu, sophomore Isa Rodriguez thinks it a normal thing.
“I think it’s completely normal,” Rodriguez said.
Overall, students have mixed opinions on the matter. Some say yes, mostly leaning towards the idea that only girls who have their toes painted should wear sandals and anything besides that should be put away.
In my opinion, I think people should be able to wear whatever shoes they want. When I wear sandals, I feel free, not having to wear actual shoes and not caring what others think. Although I think people should wear what they want, I personally don’t think boys should wear slides with no socks or no painted toes. Most people don’t care about people wearing sandals, but some, do and I think those people need to grow up.
Feet are something that everyone has; it’s a normal thing.
In the end, I say wear your sandals or slides anytime you want, no matter what people think, because in the end, it’s your life and all about what you think, not others. Participate in the “Toes out Tuesday” and “Toes out Thursday” or “Free Feet Friday” without a care. After hearing the opinions of sophomores, juniors and seniors, what do you decide?
