The media’s pastries have arrived in Oklahoma, and 85 Degree Bakery has been buzzing since. The doors to the brand-new bakery opened on Nov. 1, 2025, with giveaways to the first 25-100 customers in line.
85 Degree was founded by Mr. Cheng-Hsueh Wu in 2003, as he realized he wanted to make a cafe with more affordable prices. The first bakery opened up a year later in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, and there are now over 1,000 locations worldwide.

The Oklahoma City location is a nice, open and clean environment. The bakery is self-served as all you have to do is grab a tray and pick out any pastries you want

from the shelves. These shelves include both sweet and savory varieties wrapped in plastic like the Matcha choco bun, Salted Butter Bread, and Ube Bread.
Aside from pastries, they also offer different cakes and drinks. There is also a self-serve kiosk where you can order any of their drinks like tea, coffee, or boba. The staff will then call out your number and hand out the drinks at the end of the counter. Customers are then able to enjoy at the tables inside or take their sweets to go.
It is common to walk into the bakery and see that a lot of the pastries are sold out.
When I went there were a few popular items sold out, but also a wide assortment still left. I tried the Matcha Bun, Ube Bread, and the Tiger Boba Latte. My favorite had to be the Matcha Bun: it was sweet but not overpowering with the matcha, which made me want to go back to try more.

Mr. Cheng-Hsueh Wu definitely reached his goal, considering the bakery is known for its low prices for high-quality made food. Many reviews are amazed by how great the taste is for such a cheap price. Though there are some customers who find it hard to believe experienced bakers make these pastries.
85 Degree is open five days a week, as they are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Mondays and Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays and weekends. They are closed two weekdays out of the week so they are able to meet the demands of all the pastries, but to also give the staff rest days.
85 Degree Bakery’s history lives up to expectations as they provide delicious food, an open environment, and self services. Make sure to stop by and try some of the media’s favorite pastries.
