Founded in North Carolina, the popular Southern-fried chicken chain, Bojangles, officially opened its first Oklahoma location on April 28, in Oklahoma City at 13135 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
Bojangles is known for its buttermilk biscuits made from scratch, iced tea and Southern-fried chicken. This specific location features a “biscuit theater” to watch biscuits being made, operating daily from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. Bojangles is also iconic for its all-day breakfast, lunch or dinner.
When it first opened, the location drew large crowds, including customers arriving as early as 4 a.m with lines often wrapping around the building.
To mark the grand opening, Bojangles offered the first 100 customers in line a $100 gift card along with Oklahoma City-themed merchandise. Additionally, 10 lucky customers were randomly selected and given a chance to win free breakfast for a year.
“Bojangles has been a great addition to Oklahoma,” sophomore Frank Watkins said. “The food is good, and the prices are reasonable, but the only flaw that they have is their wait time. This is because everyone wants a taste, they all love it.”
This expansion into Oklahoma not only marked Bojangles’ strategic growth plan, but it brought bold Southern flavors and unique Southern charms.
“We are ecstatic about introducing Bojangles to the Sooner state and bringing our unique Southern charm to its capital city,” CEO of Bojangles Jose Armario said. “Our recent expansions into markets have been met with tremendous enthusiasm, and we are confident that the community will embrace our delicious offerings with the same excitement.”
Residents in Oklahoma expressed enthusiasm and positive reviews for the arrival of Bojangles.
