Spring- the time of the year in Oklahoma when the flowers are blooming, it’s getting sunny, tornado season is rolling back around and people are preparing for summer. However, most people don’t know what to do during this season.
Going to downtown Edmond
In Edmond, we have a few activities coming up.
Heard on Hurd is a street festival in downtown Edmond Oklahoma hosted by Citizens Bank. Every third Saturday of the month it is hosted from 6-10 p.m., March through Oct. There will be live music, boutiques, pop-up shops and food trucks, there are over 2,000 local vendors that participate in Heard on Hurd .Heard on Hurd is to bring the city together in a positive light.
The Edmonds Arts Festival is coming back May 2, 3 and 4. The Downtown Edmond Arts Festival is an opportunity for artists to sell and showcase their work. The festival can be an eye-opener to people that just look at art and see colors. It is also an opportunity to walk around in nature, go to food trucks, gather as a community and so many other things.
Going to downtown OKC
If you like flowers, plants and butterflies you could visit the Myriad Botanical Gardens open from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and on Sundays 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. The prices range from free up to $10.50, with adults being $10.50, students- $7 and youth ranging from ages (5-17 years old) for $5.50.
If you want to stay in the downtown area and play arcade games you can go to Brickopolis with some friends and play mini-golf, laser tag and play three floors worth of arcade games. For the fun bundle it is $54 for 1 round of mini-golf, 1 round of laser tag, 1 paydirt (Gemstone mining), 1 bungee jump, 1 ¨klime¨ wall and a $15 play card.
You can also go to Scissortail Park for free; they are always having some kind of activity going on. May 23, there will be ¨Park Electric!¨ which is their May Neon night, where you can shop at mini markets and listen to EDM. You can have picnics with friends and loved ones, play at the park, bring your dogs, play basketball and more. They also have food trucks, dessert trucks and more.
Heading east of downtown
Now shifting a little bit away from downtown you could go to the Old Paris Flea Market, which is open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Since flea markets and thrifting are becoming more popular you could find animals for sale like dogs, exotic animals, children toys, jewelry, clothes and much more.They have over 300 hundred indoor and outdoor booths and vendors.
A newer activity for you and your family to go to is the new OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark. It is located at 639 First Americans Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73129, by the First Americans Museum. Okana has a 100,000 square foot indoor water park, arcade, restaurants, gift shop, outdoor beach, and spa. A spring waterpark evening pass is $ 29.99 per person, a day pass is $39.99 a person not including tax. The base price for a Junior Double Queen River Suite is $149 per night. This suite includes 2 queen beds, tv, mini-refrigerator, a sofa bed, bathroom, and two waterpark passes. Most rooms face the Oklahoma River,but you can also get a room that has views of the Waterpark Lagoon views for $159.
