After a week filled with trendy posters, social media promotions and spirited campaigning, Student Council (STUCO), has officially announced its newly elected officers and senators last week.
Students running for STUCO spent the days leading up to the election finding creative ways to connect with voters. Hallways were lined with colorful posters, inspired by current trends, popular media and humor, while also expanding their campaigns off the walls onto social media.
Physical items like pins and bracelets were also very common from candidates who worked to get their votes.
The officer election results were announced Wednesday revealing the students who will lead the council in higher positions for the ‘26-’27 school year. The elected president is junior Hannah Dinh, with junior Hadley Williams elected vice president. Sophomore Penelope Brooke was selected as treasurer, while junior Ella Smith and sophomore Nazifa Abdullah were elected as philanthropy chairs.
The newly elected president, Dinh, admires Santa Fe for the diversity it has.
“We’re so culturally diverse, and I think it’s so inspiring how we actually show up for our community, we don’t just talk about it,” Dinh said.
Dinh has been making memories in the Santa Fe district her whole life and wants to put that passion into making it an amazing year to come.
“Being president of student council has been one of my biggest goals for a long time because I admire how even though we are all so different, when one group succeeds, we all do,” Dinh said. “That is the Santa Fe spirit to me, and as president, I want to build on this by creating more events and opportunities that celebrate our different cultures, clubs and voices so that everyone can feel seen.”
Following on Friday, senator results came out with the representatives from sophomores to seniors who make up the rest of STUCO.
The senior class senators elected: Merab Hamida, Kenley Moskalski, Mason Giovanni, Zarah Ahmed, Megan Morris, Rayne Caldwell, Amya Warhop, Fiona Jilka, Conor Schwab and Kaleb Boyles.
Hamida wants to make next year a memory all seniors won’t forget.
“I want us to make as many memories as possible and be able to look back and remember high school really wasn’t that bad, and it was actually enjoyable,” Hamida said.
Representing the junior class: Holden Howard, Aishat NaAllah, Gabriella Dawson, Morgan French, Kai Zulker, Rimjhim Parvez, Sofia Miller, Jackson Duhon, Cailyn Tu, Abbey Niemann and Samuel Wheeler.
Sophomore senators: Daniel Coons, Kate Beck, Parisa Ahmed, Sophia Semere, Max Sartin and Emaan Fatima.
This year’s election not only highlighted school spirit, but also the growing role that media plays in student communication. Many campaigns reflected popular references familiar to students, making their posters more eye-catching and helping candidates build that humor to catch more attention. This combined with physical giveaways and peer promotion brought all the noticeable energy throughout the week.
With the full ‘26-’27 council announced, these newly elected officers and senators will take on the responsibility of representing their classmates and Santa Fe by planning events and helping shape an amazing school year.
