The Versus assembly took place on Wed. Feb. 25 as the third assembly for Double Wolf Dare Week. Everyone was hyped up as the Student Council (STUCO) introduced themselves and started up the assembly.
To start off, STUCO prepared the audience with a mattress relay race. They selected a freshman and senior on one team, with a sophomore and junior on the other. They had to jump on the mattress while pushing it ahead to win. As the intensity grew, the junior and sophomore ended up dominating the other team.
As the assembly continued, another relay race was put together. To start off, three boys competed against each other. They had to belt a tissue box with ping pong balls inside and they had to get each one out. Someone would then push them on a sports scooter board to a chair to get pied in the face. Then someone at the end of the race was waiting for them to pop a balloon with their chest.
Haley Crane, Megan Molinksy, Adam Fraser, and Demontre Hurst were put on two teams while yoga poses were put on the screen for them to do. With team one (Crane and Molinsky) starting off strong, team two (Fraser and Hurst) started to pick up the pace. The crowned winners were team two.

Two teams were chosen once again with one freshman and a senior, one junior and a sophomore. They were all given a blindfold and heels. Once both were put on, their teammate spinned them around 5 times and took off the blindfold. Once returning to their side, the same thing was done to their teammate. Even through the struggles on both sides with their heels falling off, the freshman and senior won.
A wig snatch was then played against teachers which included, Kaiti Powers, Jacqueline Bessinger, Drew Mcneil, Nick Vincent, and KC Williams. With the intensity high, McNeil managed to win against them all.
“I absolutely loved it that McNeil won, he is one of the best in the school, he is the “gold” standard of a person and as a colleague, “ Williams said.
Even though Williams didn’t win, he was still very grateful for this opportunity.
“I’m not the most competitive person. I just enjoy having fun, life is too short. It was fun to compete and having the privilege to participate in a DWDW event,” Williams said.
Pom and cheer were then put against each other in a sport they have very little experience with, basketball. As the first half ended, cheer was winning the court. A halftime show by the coaches of the teams was then performed. Then the basketball game proceeded with different players. Cheer pulled through, dominating the court and were crowned winners.

“I prepped for the game by listening to some hype music and shooting around with the team,” said senior and cheer team member Ruby Dantzler.
To end off the assembly, songs were sung by each grade. “Grenade” by Bruno Mars for freshmen, “Lush Life” by Zara Larson for sophomores, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen for juniors, and “Let it Go”- From “Frozen” by Idina Menzel for seniors.

The crowd seemed loud and excited for the rest of the week to continue.
