As a part of Double Wolf Dare Week (DWDW), Santa Fe students turned off the lights and upped the energy for a special cause.
The first evening event, blacklight volleyball, was packed with competitive and fun games. This playful tournament transformed the big gym into a glowing court for the games. Under the ultraviolet light, the neon attire and bright volleyballs stood out from

the court, creating an electric environment.
Students were able to form their own teams through sign ups promoted on Student Council’s (STUCO) Instagram. They competed through rounds based on a randomized bracket, until one was named the winner.
Junior STUCO member Fiona Jilka said she wanted to take advantage of her upperclassman years by getting more involved.
“For me, I wanted to make sure and participate in a lot of stuff for my junior year,” Jilka said.
She also explained that her team had come together very quickly.
“We came together last minute, all friends who wanted to play for fun,” Jilka said.
All the teams had names just as creative as their outfits. Eurish Leones, another junior, said their team name the “Hits and Giggles” was a teammate’s idea.
“Hits and Giggles, Fiona came up with it,” Leones said.
Even though the environment was fun, the competition was intense. When asked who their team’s MVP was, Leones answered with no hesitation.
“Christina, she’s the volleyball player,” Leones said.
For many of the players and watchers, the music and glowing atmosphere made the event more memorable.
“Everyone’s glowing, and it looks so much better,” Jilka said.
While the teams competed for the winning title, the focus stayed on supporting Infant Crisis Services and the families they are serving across Oklahoma. You can read more about the organization here.
At the end of the tournament, team “Mission Unblockable,” claimed the champion title after an intense final game.
With loud cheers, music playing, and glowing energy across the courts, the night was proven more than a game. Even in the dark, students showed their devotion that serving others shines through.
