During the winter sports assembly, Student Council (STUCO) announced the 2026 Double Wolf Dare Week (DWDW) theme as “30 years of DWDW,” celebrating the 30th year of the annual charity event.
“We chose this theme to honor all of DWDW’s past and how far we have come,” senior and philanthropy chair Chloe Russ said. “To honor all the great things it provides for our community and to celebrate the joy that is DWDW.”
The theme is a mix of all the previous DWDW’s, featuring popular recent themes like Disney, Marvel, outer space and under the sea, making students excited to see what themes they are bringing back.
“I hope they bring back the Marvel theme,” senior Elizabeth Clarke said, remembering the Marvel theme from 2023. “The art that they did on the wall was really cool. I would like to see that again. Plus, you can do so much with superheroes, because there’s so many.”
How was the theme chosen?
First, the philanthropy chairs, senior Chloe Russ and junior Hannah Dinh received theme ideas from a student poll on STUCO’s instagrams and from the council. All of the ideas were added to a big list and discussed in class between STUCO’s members, narrowing down the options. The council discussed how the theme represents the student body, recipient and its practicality for decorations. The themes discussed were Harry Potter, board games, fairy tales and TV shows. At the end, all members voted from a themes list with the last three options, choosing “30 years of DWDW” as their winner.
“The process of choosing the theme is pretty tricky because there are so many themes to choose from,” Dinh said. “We usually lean towards broader themes for the week since we are decorating all the hallways in our school.”
Preparations for DWDW began in late Oct. and will continue until March of 2026 when the halls will be a blend of all the magic that DWDW has done for 30 years.
