On Thursday May 15, students discovered chaos in the halls: the class of ‘25 decorated the back entrance of the school with streamers, caution tape and confetti.
The prank was executed at 9 p.m. Wednesday, and the whole thing was orchestrated by the senior class officers Kinley Barnes, Katelyn Butler, Brie Coons and Jada Smith. Many students reacted to the scene with confusion until they saw the senior prank signs.
“I was shocked when I first saw it,” Gabe White, a junior on Student Council (STUCO) said. “This was the most Iconic senior prank I’ve seen at Santa Fe!”
Previous classes celebrated their graduation with a much more subtle prank. For example, last year seniors had marbles in their hands and shook the principal’s hand, but this year they really went all out.
“I think we did better than any other class prank because you could really see the mess we made as soon as you walked in,” senior Matthew Castro said.
This lighthearted prank did receive approval from the principal, but for most other staff members it was a complete surprise.
“Our class officers did talk to Mr. Hayes about everything first so we wouldn’t get in trouble,” Castro said.
We will miss the seniors but we know they are going to do big things after high school. The bar has been raised, can’t wait to see what the class of ‘26 will do to top this prank!
