Edmond Santa Fe baseball held their annual senior night on May 7 before taking the win against the Noble Bears.
This year consisted of twelve graduating seniors: Aidan Allred, Tommy Kimberling, Brayden Tomlinson, Hayden Towell, Whaetly Chaloupek, Carson Brumbaugh, Aaron Shipp, Jace Bandy, Jorge Balcazar, Carson Cooper, Philip Wolff and Juan Cedeno.
To honor the seniors their family accompanied them on the field with messages from their parents being read aloud. The announcer of the baseball game read aloud messages parents’ of the seniors made for them while walking down the field.
“You are going to face challenges in your life but you don’t have to let them define you,” Cedeno’s parents message read. “You are strong, brave, determined and can overcome any obstacle that comes your way. We are proud of you and know that you will go far in life.”
After the ceremony, they got ready to play against the Bears. The Wolves ended up taking the win 5-3 on senior night.
Reminiscing
Over the past few years, the seniors were able to make memories playing baseball and spending time with the team. From the Wolves having practices for the beginning of the season to the bus rides home, there is always something to remember.
“My favorite memory is Webb trying to throw his bat over the backstop in rage,” Cooper said.
Beyond the memories, there are mistakes and advice to learn from. Shipp decided to share some advice with his teammates for the years to come.
“Work hard and value the time around because high school goes by fast, so enjoy it,” Shipp said.
With their final season coming to an end, their head coach Kris Webb has something to close out the season.
“This group of seniors have been nothing but incredible to coach,” Webb said. “They are everything we want in our student athletes. They love The Fe. We will miss them tremendously.”
