As the soccer season comes to a close, it’s time for a reflection and celebration for players, coaches and fans. This season was filled with unforgettable matches and moments that will be cherished for years to come.
Santa Fe girl’s soccer team finished the season with a 5-2 record, showcasing their strong performance throughout the year.
“We put a lot of work into getting stronger in the weight room to help us avoid injuries,” varsity girls player and junior Maddy McMillin said. “This helped us build community and teamwork which was why we won as many games as we did.”
The season was heavily impacted by coaches and parents pushing their players to be the best they can be. A sense of community was built throughout the team as the season progressed.
“Our success this year was heavily influenced by everyone supporting us as they cheered us on. It increased our happiness and determination as a team,” McMillin said. “I learned the value of good team culture because this group of girls works really well together with no conflicts.”
Key players have emerged as stars, showing their hard work and determination to better their team. Junior Brody Smith played with all-out effort persistently through all varsity boys games this year, putting lots of pressure on other teams. The work the team puts in really paid off in the end leaving this year with a record of 6-10.
“One lesson I learned this year was definitely to never take anything for granted, you can learn from mistakes rather than dwelling on them,” Smith said.
As the season ends there is an anticipation for what lies ahead for next year. The team will continue to work in the weight room during the offseason to prepare for next year. To find out more information about the season and more athletics, visit here.
