“Fearless”

The feeling was electric as I walked into the AT&T stadium. Thousands of people chatting excitedly to friends and  Taylor Swift songs blaring over the speakers. The merch stand was in full swing as money swapped hands to take home a piece of Taylor Swift. Food stands adorned the entire arena and fans passed friendship bracelets and complemented each other’s outfits. Nothing else could have birthed this atmosphere other than Taylor Swift’s Eras Concert.

The opening acts were incredible. Gracie Abrams went first, performing fan favorites songs “21”, “I Know It Won’t Work”, and “Mess It Up”. She was amazing and went on to rave about what an incredible experience performing on the tour was for her. The next performing act was Beabadoobee who performed her hit “Glue Song” and many others.

Following the opening acts, anticipation for Taylor’s arrival grew as a clock countdown began. Since I’ve loved Swift from the time my mom introduced me to her when I was younger, with my mom by my side it felt surreal and I felt like I was walking in a fever dream. The anticipation was palpable and I was pretty much on the verge of tears by the time the clock hit zero.

Ranging from “Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince”, which opened the show to “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” which she reintroduced in 2021, and in which she played the title track.

By the first two albums, I was in a full sweat and the excitement was building for what else could happen next. People all over the room were screaming song lyrics and yet we had just started, as the girl beside me exclaimed “I can’t believe this is real”.

Then songs from Folklore (2020) started, with the popular song  “Champagne Problems” a highly anticipated song for the tour.

“When I wrote this one I’ve always been like, I can’t wait to sing this bridge with the crowd. So here it is, the ones called “Champagne

Problems,” said Swift.

She covered albums later in concert such as “Reputation” and “Speak Now.” The song “Delicate” began with her iconic fan chant “One, two, three, let’s go b**ch”. Following this, Swift entered the stage in a beautiful purple gown to sing “Enchanted.” With the electricity of the crowd around me, I had an epiphany.

“It’s crazy to have the best night of your life when you’re 17 years old but here we are,” I said to my mom.

Taylor slowed the fever pitch of the crowd with emotional tracks like “The 1”, and “Illicit Affairs,” sending her concert goers into tears remembering their own breakups.

“My favorite was “Illicit Affairs,” because of the emotion that she conveyed throughout the song,” said concert goer Ryleigh Kiser.

She also added her additional surprise songs played on an acoustic guitar “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and “Clean”.

“I decided to sing these specific songs for Gracie Abrams and Jack Antonoff who both love these songs and requested them,” Swift said to the crowd.

Then entered the album 1989, which marked her first entry into the pop genre with hits like “Style”, “Blank Space”, and “Shake it Off”. When Swift sang “Bad Blood,” fire erupted all around and I think I might have died a little. It was a cool way to incorporate her iconic music video which featured a number of influential people.

“Midnights” (Annabelle )

The last album was “Midnights.” Swift’s most recent album. Another costume change showed Swift with a beautiful bejeweled outfit singing: Lavender Haze, Anti-Hero, and more. After the concert, the crowd sat in shock over what they had witnessed. Some sat in tears, others shouted for Taylor to return and some talked with new friends about their shared experience.

Seeing Taylor Swift live is an “Enchant(ing)” experience.  If you have a “Blank Space” in your calendar, go and see Swift herself. Here is a list of remaining tours in the U.S.  Her concert is something out of your “Wildest Dreams” and will be the best day ever!  So from one Swifty to another, “One, two, three, let’s go…” Well, you know the rest.
