Saturday, April 24, 2022 freshman Santa Fe student, Natalie Duggan, placed first in the Oklahoma City 5k Memorial Race. She completed the race in 19 minutes and 38 seconds.

Duggan’s personal record is 18 minutes and 50 seconds when she ran on the Santa Fe cross country in the fall, she now is running distance on the Santa Fe track team.

“The time was slower since the wind was so bad that morning,” Duggan said.

The memorial race is set close to the bombing in honor and remembrance of the OKC bombing in 1995.

“I feel really happy about winning but I want to remember that the memorial race isn’t about winning, it’s about remembering those that were lost in the horrible event,” Duggan said.

Duggan finds that it is more important to focus on the tragedy of the OKC bombing and to mourn the lives that were lost.
