On Jan 9,  swimming regionals began, and Santa Fe’s swim team dove into the water ready to qualify for state and make waves.

Santa Fe’s swim team qualified for the 200 medley relay boys and girls, the 200 free relay boys and girls and the 40 free relay boys and girls.

These are the individual events that qualified with the swimmer’s names, the 200 freestyle: Rachel Ly and Ethan Hollingsworth; the 200 IM: Kamryn Shaffer and Joseph Shaffer; 100 Fly: Kamryn Shaffer; 100 free: Rachel Ly and Nathan Duong; 500 free: Ethan Hollingsworth; And finally the 100 breast: Joseph Shaffer.

The Santa Fe swim team placed sixth overall for the girls and eighth for the boys. 

“I feel like it turned out pretty well,” Coach Love said. “The kids have really tried to train for this, and I feel like most of them improved their times and they did really well.”

The Santa Fe swim team is small, but they have big hearts and strive on the close relationships they have built by spending time together. 

“Since August, we’ve been in the pool every day for at least two hours a day, So we have built a pretty good relationship.”Coach Love said

The Santa Fe swim team has more than enough room for more swimmers and is looking forward to State on Saturday, Feb 19.
