Book club welcomes new members!

Oleksandr Marmuta, Howler Staff Writer

Many students these days prefer to not read books for many reasons, but the Book Club is here to change that story.

“We are trying to make reading more social and make excitement around that,” librarian Mrs. Bowlan said.

There are no requirements to join Book Club. all that students need to do is go to the library and ask Mrs. Coffman or Mrs. Bowlan, then download the Remind app to get notifications and changes about the next meeting. Book Club occurs during the first and second lunch, the date may change but usually, it’s the first Thursday of the month.

“In the first place I joined to get myself to read more and I think it does a great job of that because the books, for the most part, are really interesting for me,” senior Erin Barnard said.

During the meeting, members of the club discuss the particular book that all of them have read in the last month, say their opinions about characters, events and the message of the book. In the end, they look for the next book to read.

The next book to read this month is The Vanishing Deep by Astrid Scholte.

“Come and see us,” Mrs. Bowlan said.
