As the K-pop scene grows, a new group has debuted this month. The newest addition to the music company “BIGHIT MUSIC”- home to some of the most popular and influential groups, unveiled its newest act: “CORTIS”, composed of five members: Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Keonho-already making waves with their first EP.

Their debut EP, “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES,” released in September 2025, is a bold and dynamic project that has five mind-blowing songs ranging from complex harmonies to trap beats.

This album is everything you don’t expect. The album is noisy and restless. The mixes of melodies and beats are different with aggressive rap verses and distorted hip hop beats. “What you want”, “GO!”, “FaSHioN”, “JoyRide” and “Lullaby”- immediately defy expectations.

My two personal favorite songs on the album are “Lullaby” and “What you want”. Lullaby is driven by ethereal, gentle and comforting harmonies. It perfectly captures the feeling of being a burnt-out teenager dreaming of the future, leaving things behind while holding onto aspirations and dreams. 

Every song on “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES” gives that powerful, nostalgic feeling of late-night drives with the windows down and music blaring out of every window. It makes me feel present in the moment and worthwhile.

CORTIS has entered the K-pop scene with a definite statement. By embracing a chaotic, deeply personal, and risk-taking sound, they have successfully made a unique space for themselves, proving their artistic abilities.
