On Wed., Sept. 10, popular conservative activist and devout Christian Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a Utah Valley University debate event. The 31-year-old husband and father was killed 10 minutes into the event.
“FBI agents and staff have been working around the clock, in coordination with our law enforcement partners,” FBI Special Agent Robert Bohls said. “We are and will continue to work nonstop until we find the person who committed this heinous crime and why they did it.”
Police are still searching for the gunman. Two suspects have been cleared and released from custody. According to NPR news, the shooter was believed to be on a roof approximately 150 feet away, and the weapon was believed to be a rifle found near the building.
Although theories and speculation around the murder are circulating, the FBI has released images of the prime suspect and are asking for citizens to help identify and locate the individual (CNN).
The tragedy was met with waves of support for his family. His wife Erika has not made any public statements regarding her husband’s assassination.
