In between first and second hour, the Santa Fe Drumline led the Cross Country team around the school in preparation for the cross country state competition on Saturday.

As the drumline went around the school this morning, many students stood in the hallway and watched both the drumline and the Cross Country Team pass by. Drumline then concluded the state sendoff just outside the auditorium with large amounts of crowd participation.

“I love the feeling of performing for the school,” said Junior drumline member Russel Stockman. “Being able to perform for people and seeing them enjoy it always gives me an exciting kind of rush.”

Drumline will perform tomorrow with the band for state competition at Broken Arrow at 1 p.m.

Last weekend at regionals, both the boys and the girls cross country teams qualified for state. The boys placed seventh, and the girls placed fourth. Sophomore Natalie Duggan finished in first place for the girls, and junior Maxwell Boughman finished in 18th as the best runner for the Santa Fe boys.

“I’ve put in time, effort, and worked really hard before and after school,” Duggan said. “I expect to P.R. and place top three at state.”

The Cross Country Team will compete tomorrow at Santa Fe at 8:30 and 9:15 a.m.
