Senior skip day is a set day on which seniors enjoy their final months of school and take the day off. For Santa Fe, students run a class of 2025 Instagram page polling students on what events to plan for senior skip day and what days they would like to designate it.
The most recent senior skip day was on April 18, but seniors could choose wherever they wanted to spend the day with their friends. Senior Yulissa Vargas explains what she did on Senior skip day.
āI went to the Oklahoma City Zoo with Tyler Gutierrez for senior skip day,ā Vargas said. āI picked this place because I thought it would be a funny trip and a memory to look back on.ā
Vargas talks about the emotions behind her final year coming to a close.

āIt doesnāt even feel real even acknowledging youāre a senior since you still feel like there is more high school to come,ā Vargas said. āRealistically thereās a small bit of time left before that chapter closes.ā
Vargas explains that the zoo is somewhere upcoming seniors should look into for their skip day.
āI would recommend the zoo for future skip day but maybe not on a day that happens to be the same as elementary and middle school field trips,ā Vargas said. āItās definitely a fun reminder that you can enjoy the same things as you get older.ā
Senior Laeticia Paul talks about her trip to Philbrook Art Museum in Tulsa with her friends.
āWe wanted to have a fun girls day and a bit of a road trip so we thought Tulsa would be fun,ā Paul said. āI would recommend and say to try to get even more out of the day and do more sightseeing since this part of Tulsa is so old-toney and gorgeous.ā
Paul explains how graduating is something to look forward to but also seems it went by too quickly.
āIām excited and ready to leave for sure but also itās sad to know that my four years here are already over,ā Paul said. āIāve made so many memories and my life here as I know it is about to be over in less than a month, but I know the future holds so much more to do.”

Senior Lluvia Carbajal talks about her more hands-on adventure with her friends.
āWe decided to go to the Salt Plains because we wanted to do something fun and exciting,ā Carbajal said. āI definitely recommend future seniors to visit the Salt Plains since it was so much fun looking for crystals and chatting with friends.ā
Carbajal explains that graduating is the next step for the class of 2025.
āI definitely think senior year has gone by so fast,ā Carbajal said. āI am excited to graduate, but itās definitely gonna be sad since weāre all journeying on to the next step stone in life.ā
Senior Arsema Simachew talks about why she visited the Oklahoma Aquarium with friends.
āWe wanted to take a road trip and have been meaning to see the aquarium,ā Simachew said. āWe went to the aquarium and walked around the Gathering Place in Tulsa.”

Simachew explains whether future seniors should choose the aquarium and how she feels about leaving Santa Fe.
āI definitely recommend the aquarium since itās so cool and everyone should go once,ā Simachew said. āI feel very nostalgic about graduating and am very thankful for the experience I had.ā
Senior skip day is a long-held tradition for every class to enjoy but will always be something long remembered by all.
