It has been a year unlike any other for the class of 2021 seniors who are now preparing for graduation. Now, graduation is only about six weeks away, and many seniors are left wondering how it will look this year.

The class of 2020 missed the final quarter of their senior year due to COVID-19 and had their graduation in July. However, the class of 2021 will have the opportunity to celebrate surviving senior year amidst a global pandemic.

The big event, graduation, will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021. Unlike previous years, the graduation will not be at the Cox Convention Center with all three high schools, but rather at each high school’s home football stadium. Santa Fe’s Graduation is at 7 p.m. at the Wolves Stadium. There is also a special graduation for our Super Wolves in the Wolves Stadium on Wednesday, May 12, at 7 p.m.

Prior to graduation, there are some other events taking place. To begin, seniors can pick up their caps and gowns on Thursday, April 8, at the Welcome Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Also, there are the senior awards on Monday, May 3, at 6 p.m. If you have earned an award, you will be notified by April 16. The senior capstones are on May 4, this is an event where seniors will give final speeches and also give an item to remember high school by, this will be at 6 p.m. in the Drama Room. Finally, on the morning of graduation, seniors will wake up early and arrive for senior breakfast prior to participating in graduation practice in preparation for that evening.

As seniors work to finish off a wild year, the class of 2021 can walk away from Santa Fe with new skills like surviving a pandemic, but most of all with the memories that will not soon be forgotten.
