Veterans Day history

Alanna LaDeaux, Howler Staff Writer

Thursday, November 11 is Veterans Day. Veterans Day, originally named Armistice Day, is a day that gives Americans the chance to honour and celebrate the U.S. Veterans.

On November 11, 1918, Americans signed a ceasefire agreement with Germany bringing World War I to an end.

The “Veterans Day ” term didn’t become known until 1947 whenever Americans decided that not only World War l veterans needed to be celebrated, but World War ll as well.

Thank you to all of our military veterans for their service to this country.
