From Friday, Aug. 9 to Saturday, Aug. 10, Santa Fe held the 2022 Heather Harkness volleyball invitational.

This year was the 15th year that Santa Fe hosted the tournament in remembrance of Santa Fe volleyball player Heather Harkness. She was a defensive player who played for OK Peak and OK Charge volleyball clubs. She passed away following a surgery for appendicitis and is remembered for living her life with happiness, joy, generosity and energy.

Seven of the top teams in Oklahoma City played in the tournament. All three Edmond public schools and Deer Creek were in attendance as well.

“I really loved playing in the tournament,” said Vanessa Fisher, a sophomore, varsity player. “I think it is really special that the tournament is held every year in her honor.”

On the first day of the tournament, Santa Fe went undefeated with wins against Edmond Memorial and Tulsa Noah. On the last day of the tournament, Santa Fe went 1-1. They beat Moore and lost to Deer Creek. Overall, Santa Fe took third place at the tournament as Edmond North took first place.

Seniors Gianna Andriaase and Addie Banes were selected for the all-tournament team award at the end of the tournament.
