To honor the graduating seniors of both Santa Fe’s boys and girls soccer teams, families, friends and fellow students gathered at the Santa Fe stadium on Apr. 17 for a Senior Night celebration.
This year, Santa Fe’s girls team has three graduating seniors: Abigail Richmond, Madalyn Battiest and Kylie Salameh, while the boys team has 12 graduating seniors: Caden Hudgins, Braylon Keyes, Michael Nelson, Eric Rodriguez, Cir Myers, Conor Kelly, Valin Quisenberry, Zeke Camacho, Tristen Lincecum, Trent Varanusupakul, Alec Sanders and Lane Harper.
The girls matchup against the Putnam City (PC) West Patriots kicked off at 6:00pm. Santa Fe’s Lady Wolves took the win over PC West, ending the game with a final score of 9-0.
Senior Kylie Salameh scored two goals, Abigail Richmond scored one goal and Madalyn Battiest earned a hat trick by scoring three goals.
“My senior night was so amazing,” Kylie Salameh said. “I’m so grateful to have the best teammates and friends and family to support me.”
Following the game, family members of all players were called to the field to walk across with their respective players. Boys and girls took turns running under a tunnel of hands formed by other players and staff members before meeting their families for a photo.
After each player had a chance to walk across the field, seniors Michael Nelson and Madalyn Battiest were crowned soccer king and queen.
The boys took the field but came up short, ending the game with a 1-4 loss. Senior Zeke Camacho scored the only goal for Santa Fe.
