On Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025 Santa Fe’s student council (STUCO) held a Black Light Volleyball Tournament to benefit this year’s Double Wolf Dare Week (DWDW) recipient, K Club.
Students from each grade competed for the title of 2025 Blacklight Volleyball champions.
Each team was allowed four to six players on a team. The entry fee was $10 per person and every team got to pick their own team name.
“We plan these types of events, especially for DWDW, months ahead so we know exactly what is going on and how to have things run smoothly,” junior and STUCO member Shian Fletcher said. “The most difficult things about it would have to be sign ups, although we managed to really push and get the students involved in this year’s event.”
Two brackets were made during the tournament- one for winners and one for losers. All in all, the winning team “Gufeter Puberson” consisting of players Izzy Coons, Bella Martin, Alexander Limas, Abraham Shoemaker, Nate Gehers and Trey Whalen took the top spot of the winner’s bracket.
“My favorite part was all of it honestly because I have never had a bad experience with black light volleyball,” Martin said. “Winning was so fun, especially with the people on my team.”
Events like these are what help STUCO include a variety of groups.
“It was a super fun event to watch and I would definitely love to attend more events during DWDW later this year,” spectator Jarmille Robinson said.
