With Double Wolf Dare Week (DWDW) fast approaching, Santa Fe’s fundraising efforts are in full swing.
On Saturday morning, Student Council (STUCO) hosted a one-mile fun run and a 5K to support this year’s DWDW recipient, K Club. The event drew students, teachers and parents eager to break a sweat for a good cause. At $20 per person to run, over $1000 was raised for K Club’s mission.
Despite the chilly weather, the event provided a great opportunity for the community to come together, exercise and contribute to a meaningful cause.

“It’s nice to get out, and I always want to support DWDW,” cross country coach Stephanie Lewis said. “Anything for a good run. Running is one of my hobbies, so when they have a run, it makes me support it even more, because it’s something I like to do.”
Many participants, including senior Brielle Coons, saw the run as an opportunity to train for cross country and track while giving back.
“It’s just another excuse to get up and go run,” Coons said. “I [like] being with my team, too.”

The fun run took place on the Santa Fe track, consisting of four full laps. Senior Maxton Barker claimed first place, crossing the finish line victoriously.
“I feel great,” Barker said after his win. “In the summer, all of those back-to-back long runs, eating healthy—all of that just so I could win. You know, if you’re a kid and you keep believing, one day you’ll get to win the DWDW fundraiser dash.”
After the fun run, participants lined up at the Wolf Trail for the 5K, where senior Natalie Duggan won.
“[I feel] amazing,” Duggan said after the race. “I got to support K Club and run with my teammates.”
With fundraising events well underway, the DWDW excitement is only just beginning. Stay tuned for more updates.
