With the long anticipated arrival of this year’s Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music Replay, people everywhere are sharing the artists and songs they listened to the most. We asked our staff what their top artist, top song and overall minutes listened were for 2024.
Cay: My top song this year was “Better in the Dark” by TV Girl and Jordana. My top artist was SZA followed by Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, Clario and in my number five spot Drake. I spent 35,643 minutes listening to 1,351 different artists and 2,769 songs.
Tristan: My top song this year was “Last Words of a Shooting Star” by Mitski, and she was also my top artist followed by TV Girl, Deftones, Phoebe Bridgers and Car Seat Headrest. I listened to 69,593 minutes this year with 6,467 of them being Mitski. My top songs and artists were what I expected, other than Deftones being in my top.
Lila: My top song was also “Better in the Dark” by TV Girl and Jordana. I listened to my top artist, Clairo, for 1,227 minutes out of my total 29,302 minutes for the year. While my top artists were pretty predictable, I did expect Jeff Buckley to be up there.
Ava: My top artist this year was Kali Uchis; I listened to her for 34 days in a row and 16,209 minutes, being in the top 0.005% of listeners. My total minutes listened to was 103,205 minutes for the year. My top artists other than Kali Uchis were SZA, Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion and Kendrick Lamar. I listened to a lot of music this year and I’m ready to listen to many more songs next year.
Emmie: My top artist was The Smiths, and I had a listening streak of 28 days. I was in the top 0.1% of fans, spending 3,759 minutes listening to them throughout the year. My top song was “Touch” by CAS and I was in the top 0.001% of listeners. I hoped to have more oldies on my top songs, but I barely started listening to them.
Makayla: My top artist of this year was Flo Milli; I was in the top 0.05% of listeners, with 4,320 minutes spent listening to her. My top song was “Roaring 20s” by Flo Milli and I had a listening streak of 14 days. My top artists other than Flo Milli are Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B. I hoped to have more rock in my top 5, but I started listening to it later in the year.
