Last Saturday, Feb. 17, the girls and boys bowling teams competed in High School Bowling (HSB) Regionals.
In the beginning of the tournament there is a series of matches held to determine seeding of the tournament.
Both teams placed top in the set of eight matches with the girls team having 1207 pin count and the boys team having 1315 pin count.
Since both teams placed first in seeding they both had a bye game.
At this point the tournament turned into one team against another team in a traditional bowling match setting. The team that would move onto the next round would be best of three matches with a five game total.
The Santa fe Girls team would go against Enid first and beat them in a total of 3 matches. This would advance them to the championship round against Edmond North.
The Boys team would also advance to the Championship round, beating Cimarron.
In the championship round on both girls and boys side it would be North vs. Santa Fe.
The girls team would end up beating North in 3 matches to win Regionals and the boys team would tie with North for the first 4 matches but in the 5th match, determining the winner, North would come out on top.
Despite there being a winner of Regionals, the top two teams on both girls and boys side make it to State.
The Santa Fe Bowling Teams will compete at HSB State next Saturday in Enid at Oakwood Bowl at 9am.
