On November 28th, the Edmond Public Schools Foundation hosts a presentation- and is inviting the entire local community to attend!
The Edmond Public Schools Foundation (EPSF) is an independent nonprofit organization based around aiding Edmond’s schools, students and teaching staff. Since its founding in 1984, EPSF has bestowed awards upon outstanding educators, raised funds for classroom support, district-wide programs, student scholarships and advocated for community mobilization.
EPSF incorporates both adults and students into the mission statement, hosting a year-round Student Ambassador program for aspiring teenagers attending one of the three Edmond high schools. Student Ambassadors join local leaders in the district through one of three committees, conduct fundraisers, advocate on social media, hold food drives, volunteer at schools, etc.
The Student Ambassadors meet monthly, with each committee having their own personal goals for the school year. The three committees Student Ambassadors have the option to join include the Leadership Committee, Philanthropy Committee and Advocacy Committee.
Leadership Committee: Ambassadors in the Leadership Committee actively apply their growing leadership skills through public speaking engagements and close interaction with community and school representatives. Their goals include surveying food pantries and conducting a successful food drive by Mar. 15, 2024.
Philanthropy Committee: Ambassadors in the Philanthropy Committee participate in various fundraising campaigns and charity events. Their goals include securing $5,000 to help fund Edmond Public Schools educator DonorsChoose projects.
Advocacy Committee: Ambassadors in the Advocacy Committee head EPSF’s social media platforms and advocate for the organization within their own communities. Their goals include increasing EPSF’s Instagram followers to 2,000 and the number of engagement activities on social media platforms by 25% by May 1, 2024.
EPSF’s presentation on Nov. 28th will be held at the Edmond Public Schools Administrative Center at 6:30 p.m. It will be led by the Student Ambassadors themselves, and is meant to educate the local community about their mission and establish their objectives for the school year.
