Santa Fe’s Lady Wolves take third at the annual Heather Harkness tournament.
The tournament is held in remembrance of previous Santa Fe defensive player, Heather Harkness, who passed away after an appendicitis surgery. Eight Oklahoma schools came together to play in her memory for the 16th year in a row September 8-9.
“The Heather Harkness tournament is more than just a volleyball tournament,” senior libero Megan Branson said. “After playing and hosting the tournament in remembrance of Heather, I feel a mix of emotions. It’s bittersweet as I didn’t know Heather, but I’ve experienced the power of collective remembrance and the positive impact it can have on those involved.”
On the first day of the tournament Santa Fe lost to Edmond Memorial but were able to pull out two wins against Owosso and OKC Storm. On Saturday the lady wolves took the victory against Moore and lost to Deer Creek.
Edmond Memorial took overall first place at the tournament.
