Going from a kindergarten teacher to a college and career counselor, Stacy Gentling has a passion for working with any and all children whether they are 5 years old or a senior in high school.
“It couldn’t be a larger jump, but that’s really always what I wanted to do,” said Gentling. “I took my previous job with the intention of using that experience in education for a counselor position.”
Her love of people drives her to help students on a daily basis. As a career counselor, she works with Francis Tuttle making sure students get placed in the academy that best prepares them for their future. Her warm personality makes her office an inviting and safe environment to discuss mental health.
Part of a counselor’s daily life is to talk with students who need extra support.
“That’s just the world we live in,” said Gentling. “Students come to school struggling with any number of mental health issues on any given day and I always want to be someone who they’re comfortable to talk to.”
She was drawn to Santa Fe for its outstanding administration and the fact that her daughter goes here. Having previous ties to Santa Fe has made the transition easier and she already feels like part of the pack!
Because of her love for travel, she has been all over the world, even spending a year in Italy during her sophomore year of college while getting her degree at Pepperdine University with a Master’s in counseling and an undergraduate in psychology. Reminiscing with friends and her time since college, Gentling realizes she is doing what she has always wanted to do in her career.
From helping with schedules to mental health, Mrs. Gentling hopes to make a difference at Santa Fe and in the lives of all the students under her care!
