Introducing new freshman history teacher Jonathan Hanson, who transferred from Heartland middle school to Santa Fe high school, and has been teaching for seven years.

Hanson says he has fun with his students in the classroom. He likes to teach history because his students are curious about learning, and are excited to learn new things.

Hanson wanted to work at Santa Fe to be closer to his sister, Stephanie Hanson, and to coach a higher level of tennis.

“I wanted to come to Santa Fe, because my sister is a principal here so it’d be the first time that I would ever get to work in the same building as her, and then to coach a higher level of tennis,” Hanson said.

Hanson graduated from University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) with a degree in history education. He likes teaching history because it feels like telling a story, and because he feels that students can learn from mistakes made in the past.

Besides teaching, Hanson likes to spend time with his family.

“I like to spend as much time with my family as I can,” Hanson said. “Whenever I’m not teaching or coaching, we like to go on vacations in Colorado or Florida, also we really like to go to church together and we really like cooking together and having family meals.”

Santa Fe has again welcomed another new teacher into their staff. Welcome to the Wolfpack Mr. Hanson!
