After Dr. Angela Grunewald retired in Jan., Edmond Public Schools (EPS) has welcomed a new superintendent, Dr. Josh Delich.
Delich is originally from Minnesota, but he earned his Ph.D. from the University of North Texas before moving to Oklahoma. He has 21 years of education experience and has taught classes from 6th to 8th grade. Additionally he has been a coach, principal and administrator.
He speaks very highly of the Edmond school district, calling it a “destination district,” and he and his family are looking forward to being part of the community.
“I am beyond blessed and humbled to be the superintendent of Edmond Public Schools,” Delich said.
He plans to work side by side with the Oklahoma legislation to support schools.
“Anytime you go into a role, whatever role it is, you’re always going to have the legislative dynamics that you’re going to have to work through. I think it again goes to, how do you create space and opportunity to engage with legislators, politicians, people that are able to work in collaboration for influencing what’s best for kids?” Delich said. In an interview with News 9, Delich was asked about his plans for EPS. He responded that first he wanted to “better understand what’s going on before infusing the ideas” he has into the district.
The EPS website has a brief introduction, along with a list of information about Dr. Delich: “Introducing Dr. Josh Delich superintendent”.
