Wolf Games came to Santa Fe for Double Wolf Dare Week (DWDW) for the first time on Feb. 27 from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. The students got to participate in a series of games for $5 per player and $3 for an extra life. All the proceeds collected from the games and the activities went to this year’s recipient The Keaton’s Kindness Foundation (The K Club).
The K Club is a non-profit organization that helps children that have cancer. It helps pay for parties, helps with funeral costs and is now getting help from the Santa Fe wolves to re-decorate the comfort care room in Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health to help the children feel better.
Wolf Games is inspired by Squid Games, Watch Squid Game | Netflix Official Site which is a popular netflix tv show, based off of a series of Korean childhood games like Gong-gi Squid Game: How to Play Gonggi that can end very badly if you do not win. It was so popular that season two became the second most popular english show.
At Santa Fe they played games such as Red light-Green light, Tug of war, trivia questions about Santa Fe, cutting out Dalgona cookies, a relay race, scavenger hunt and musical chairs as their final game. The relay race consisted of a flip cup, dice, and a memory game with all six players’ feet tied together throughout the game. A few students that participated were Alizeh Qazi, Mayliah Ford and Taylor Long.
“I would 100 percent participate again, and I’d love to see more people involved next year” said junior Taylor Long.
The winner of Wolf Games was senior Reese Hollingsworth who received a trophy and recognition at the final assembly of DWDW.
“Winning Wolf Games felt amazing” said Hollingsworth. “Wolf Games was pretty close to what I expected, the student council members did a good job staying in character as the guards.”
The director of Wolf Games was Leatica Paul, who was asked how it felt to be a part of the first ever Wolf Games held at Santa Fe.
“[Wolf Games were] really really funny, I couldn’t keep a straight face half the time” said Paul.
Hollingsworth, Paul, and Long said they would definitely participate again.This concluded the first ever Wolf Games at Santa Fe for DWDW.
