After a long process of preparation, Santa Fe’s Fashion and Design I & II classes held their annual fashion show, showcasing student-designed outfits.
The main theme was Valentine’s Day, but it was split into three categories: “Date Night”, “Queen of Hearts” and “Masquerade.” To introduce “Date Night” as the first theme of the show, juniors Nyles Jackson and Cianni Powell walked onto the stage and got the crowd ready.
The fashion show included numerous outfits made by Rachel Heintzman’s classes, Fashion I and Fashion II. Apart from that, the models were student volunteers, as well as students from Counseling & Mental Health, Human Growth & Development and fashion classes.
“My favorite part was seeing my designs come to life and getting to walk in them,” junior Avery Holloway said. “I’m so glad I was able to get a chance to design and model with the wonderful people in fashion design and have a good show for everyone.”
In between each of the themes, Jackson and Powell interacted with the audience. They had trivia questions and a karaoke segment to sing along to “Thinkin’ Bout You” by Frank Ocean.
The students made playlists lined up for each of the segments, matching the themes and subcategories. Along with that, the students had to plan the order of the show, from the lighting to timing the models walking.
“Students are not only designers,” Heintzman said. “They are also assigned an additional job for the fashion show, such as event producer, set designer, public relations, stage manager, stylist, or model.”
The show closed with the final theme: “Masquerade.” Jackson and Powell thanked Santa Fe students for attending and appreciating the hard work that went into the event.
