Santa Fe’s basketball team, along with cheer and pom, held their annual Senior Night on Monday Feb.17 before facing Putnam City North high school (PCN).
Families joined seniors in walking out before the game as they celebrated their time at Santa Fe by sharing past memories, future plans and other fun facts.
“I am going to attend college at University of Arkansas and major in finance,” senior basketball player Matthew Castro said.
Pom and cheer were also given their time to shine; this year’s seniors were Reaghan White, Myra Brack, Lillian Wilson, Bella Phillips, Emma Pester, Reese Hollingsworth, Cydney Robinson, Leah Smith and Maggie Stroman.
“It was so exciting to get to see Reaghan have her moment tonight and hear all of her accomplishments,” sophomore and Reaghan’s friend Madeline Muir said.
Basketball celebrated seniors from all teams; this year’s seniors were Steven Joshua, Matthew Castro, Mubarak Naallah, Micah Alexander, Alex Griffin, Peyton Best, Jayda Brown, Aniyah Burney, Jada Daniel, Jaeden Daniel, Cristiana Perry and Aaliyah Jones.
“The seniors on the team have been a great influence by showing everyone how to work and become better with their grit,” senior and student section leader Ian Jenkins said. “The seniors in the student section show the etiquette and ecstatic everyone needs to have in the student section”
The boys basketball team displayed great perseverance but fell short against PCN, finishing with a 50-57 loss.
