Valentine’s Day is an annual celebration of love and romance. From being recognized in the United States to China, many people celebrate the holiday, including students at the Fe.
Sophomore Julia Smith explains that the best part of Valentine’s Day may be the treats that come with it.
“My opinion on Valentine’s Day is pretty neutral, I don’t really care much for it except that I like candy,” said Smith. “My favorite part is spending time with my Valentine if I have one.”
Smith further explains her plans for this Valentine’s Day.
“I am going to be gone in Arizona for Valentine’s Day, so my girlfriend and I celebrated early,” Smith said. “We went to Othello’s and then Roxy’s for ice cream.”
Junior Kai Goodyear has other thoughts on the holiday.
“I love Valentine’s Day so much because I love love,” Goodyear said. “My favorite part of Valentine’s Day is giving and getting flowers, but I don’t like the gross chocolates that some boxes have.”
Goodyear talks about her all-day plans for Valentine’s Day.
“My plan for Valentine’s Day is to get coffee with my best friend in the morning,” Goodyear said. “Then, go with my boyfriend to the plaza district, get food, and go play pool.”
Senior Gianna Philips enjoys Valentine’s Day for similar reasons.
“I think that Valentine’s Day is such a sweet holiday, showing the people you care about that you love and appreciate them,” Philips said. “My favorite part of Valentine’s Day is gift-giving. It doesn’t even have to be a monetary item, handmade gifts feel extra special.”
Philips explains her plans for the evening.
“For Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend and I are going out to eat, and then making crafts together,” Philips said.
Students may celebrate differently from going out to dinner to making crafts. Valentine’s Day seems to still be a widely enjoyed holiday all around the Fe.
