In anticipation of Double Wolf Dare Week (DWDW), Student Council (STUCO) organized a 3×3 basketball tournament.
In the large gym, students gathered to play while senior basketball athletes took on the role of referees. Games were played in five minute increments, with a maximum score limit of 11 points.
“Reffing the game was super fun,” senior Matthew Castro said. “STUCO did a great job setting up the event.”
STUCO Bros emerged as the tournament’s champions. The team consisting of Ian Jenkins, Jarrell Hull, and Tommy Hand ended the game with a final score of 9-4. After senior Tommy Hand secured the victory with a game winning shot, the team received a trophy and a spot in the yearbook as the tournament winners.
“I feel like I played great defense in the game,” Hull said. “My favorite part was getting to see people having fun and knowing that we are doing this for charity is just amazing.”
STUCO every year creates an event by booking the gym with activity coordinator Marti Davis. Next they open up a google form for sign ups to post on social media and encourage people to attend. Afterwards, the council comes up with a bracket for the teams and runs the event.
“We have been doing something along the lines of 3×3 Basketball or soccer for about 15 years,” senior STUCO member Ian Jenkins said.
