For sophomores and juniors enrolling for this upcoming school year, the elective Teach Oklahoma is now available once again. Previously, the class did not meet the required minimum of students wanting to join.
Teach Oklahoma is a year-long program where students get to explore teaching, inspire others and build leadership skills.
The class provides hands-on learning opportunities such as leadership development, diversity awareness, and making sure students have “career-ready skills.”
Teach Oklahoma provides many educational career pathways; these include Business Management, Administration, Information Technology, STEM programs and arts. For a more technological focused route, Teach Oklahoma also has audio/video technology and communications.
There are paths for more interactive and experience based learning such as Health Sciences, government, Public Administration, Human Services, athletics, Physical Education and educational training.
“Students get hands on experience, learning about human development and psychology, the history of education in the United States, theory of learning and diversity within the classroom,” Teach Oklahoma teacher Amelia Prince said.
Students interested in joining Teach Oklahoma can also apply through the google form.
