The highly anticipated release of Black Ops 6 has taken fans by storm. This is the 21st installation in the Call of Duty (COD) franchise since its initial debut in October 2003. The franchise has grown and now has over 100 million long-term users across different games and platforms.
Black Ops 6 launched worldwide on Oct. 25 and is now approaching over 500 million copies sold. The first person shooter is considered one of the biggest video games in history.
“I have played almost all the COD games so far, I’ve enjoyed every one except for Modern Warfare 2019,” freshman Isaiah Kressly said.
This new installation in the COD series includes many changes such as a new movement system, return of the prestige system, 29 new primary weapons, 16 new multiplayer maps, two new zombies maps and improved warzone. The warzone has three new maps and the option to use legacy loadouts from previous games.
“I really like that the developers have allowed legacy weapons into warzone,” said sophomore Zach Johnson. “It is so nice because I didn’t have to build a new loadout on day one of warzone, I could just go straight in.”
Overall, opinions on the game are very split; most ratings are either five stars or one with not much in between. Some think it is the best game in the franchise while others think the massive changes to the movement system ruined the game.
“Excellent game, omni-movement is fantastic,” Google reviewer Sharon Fairbanks said.
All in all, I think these new changes to the game have been for the better; they have and will continue to improve the gameplay.
