After 27 years of teaching, Santa Fe welcomes new computer science teacher Shawn Deiorio.
With an interest in science and a positive relationship with his teachers, Deiorio knew what he wanted to be early on in high school. Deiorio remembers his coach’s biology class the best. He models his teaching after his coach who treated his players and students like family.
“I went to a smaller school and knew all my teachers pretty well, I knew that’s what I wanted to do because he made learning fun,” Deiroio said.
After graduating high school he attended Cameron University and pursued his Bachelor’s of Science in Education Leadership and Science in Physical education.
Deiorio is passionate about a variety of sports. He was also the girls basketball coach and assistant softball coach at Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Okla.
Here at Santa Fe, he coaches the boys golf team. It is one of the many sports he has played since he can remember.
“I fell in love with the game,” Deiorio said. “I want to be known as a coach who cares about their players, and is strict but fair.”
We are lucky to have a coach and teacher like Mr. Deiorio at Santa Fe.
