After 19 years in the classroom, Algebra II teacher Kathleen Stephenson has come to Santa Fe. She spent her previous years at various schools in Mid-Del before transferring here.
“I wanted to be closer to where I live for the last 20 years of my career,” Stephenson said.
Stephenson graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2005.
“I always wanted to be a teacher, so that’s what I went to college for, to be a math teacher,” Stephenson said.
Stephenson has experience teaching various ages; she taught at an alternative school, middle school, and high school during her time in Mid-Del.
In her free time, Stephenson enjoys preparing apparel for the upcoming seasons.
“I like to knit and sew sweaters, blankets, and quilts,” Stephenson said. “I’m working on several sweaters and cardigans for fall and winter”.
Stephenson also has two Great Danes and two cats.
“My Great Danes are named Danie and Kai, who are five and three,’ Stephenson said. “My cat’s names are Mickey and Pixel, who are 18 and one and a half years old”.
Stephenson loves to spend time with her family.
“Every year my family takes a family vacation to Galveston Island, but this year we were there for a night before we had to evacuate to Houston for Hurricane Beryl,” Stephenson said. “That’s how we ended up finding Broken Bow when we still had a week left for vacation, but couldn’t come back to Galveston because of flooding where our beach house was located”.
Santa Fe is grateful for this new addition to the team.
