To follow up on Disney’s previous movie, Encanto, Pixar Studios recently released their latest movie Turning Red, to Disney Plus on March 22.
Turning Red is a movie set in Toronto, Canada where the main character 13-year-old Meilin Lee faces the troubles of being her mother’s obedient and successful daughter while also facing the troubles as a growing teenager.
Pixar’s motive for the movie itself was to acknowledge a teenage girl going through the first stages of adulthood. As shown in Turning Red.
“This film was so powerful in artfully (as well as humorously) talking about mother-daughter intergenerational relationships and the burdens many of us unknowingly carry and try to break from throughout our lives,” Anita Alex, a Google reviewer wrote.
To include not just puberty but silly personalities and how a young female teenager’s life may play out, friendship and relationship-wise.
“This movie is one of the best if not the best film I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. My eyes have been blessed by this masterpiece of filmmaking…” Google reviewer Ruth Nye wrote. “The characters are some of the best-written characters ever in all of fiction. I truly wish I could be friends with them in real life…”
Overall, Rotten Tomatoes gave Turning Red an initial score of 94% along with an in-detail review of Turning Red’s guidelines.
